In about a months time
I will be jumping on the plane and head towards the other side of the world!
I am incredibly stoked for this trip, we are actually moving away from Norway which i mentioned in another post!
A totally new adventure infront of us!
I will quit my job, that’s a big thing, for a lot of people that’s the scariest thing ever, leaving the most
“secure” thing people might have in life!
For me it’s all the time when the biggest and best opportunities appear!
When I move my ass from a safe and comfortable place, and venture in to the almost unknown!
I love it and it get’s me going forward, not backwards or standing still!
First stop will be Sri Lanka, were we will celebrate Christmas and New years eve!
Love celebrating those time in the tropics and away from all the stress that is pretty common around those times of the year.
I don’t know much a bout Sri Lanka which makes it even more exciting!
2009 I went backpacking in India which was an awesome life changing adventures hippiesh trip , that I’ll bring up in another post. ( I got the opportunity to be in the biggest tv show in India ) Crazy!
We have done some research about Sri Lanka and it’s seems magical , Marco Polo called it the most beautiful island in the world!
Main reason why we chose Sri Lanka was at first for the great surf and the extraordinary scuba diving!
I’ve been travelling now for about 8 years, i have been an incredible journey and I’m still going strong with my passion.
One thing that I’ve realised is that a great Travel Insurance is very, and listen to me when i say VERY important.
There’s so many things that we don’t think about could happen, things that we are unaware of, or things that we don’t think that will happen to us.
This very dangerous!
We all go for a vacation, a journey , an adventure, and we try all the time to make the best of it.
Maybe we plan the trip ahead , doing a lot of research and coming up with a budget that will work for us.
Sometimes we forget how important a travel insurance is, we just see the cost of it.
We think that we don’t want to spend from our budget to put on that, instead we try to be safe, doing it this way maybe we can stay longer or spend more on something fun ?
I used to think like that, until I experienced something that was out of my hands, i couldn’t doing anything about the situation.
I was in Thailand at Fullmoon party dancing away on the big Haad Rin beach on Koh Phangan!
Drinking a lot of the buckets they have, and getting wild WOW
When the sunrise came, me and my buddy went to the bar to have some beer while watching the incredible sunrise and listening to the most perfect sunrise music ever!
After a few beers we paid and then head on to another bar.
The owner got super angry, starting to shout in thai and being very aggressive!
Coming up to us saying we haven’t paid for 8 beers! We tried to leave without paying he said!
It was a couple of other guy’s that put their beers on our “bill” and didn’t paid for it! cruel!
The owner jumped up from the bar, punched me in my face and broke my nose!
I went to the clinics, but they couldn’t do anything! I tried a few.
They just sent me to the island next to Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, where they have a hospital.
I had to take the speed boat there ( my nose looked pretty bad ), they came to the pier and picked me up.
For this broken nose they put me on some sedative drug, did some surgery, and put me in bed.
When i woke up I had like a thing supporting my nose to stay straight.
I stood up walked into the corridor and tried to contact the doctor, he came and just took all my insurance information and then left.
The nurses came in and put me on sedative again.
I was there for two days, until i stood up and walked out to the desk and told them i wanted to leave.
They basically put me on drugs every time i tried to leave, I knew that there was nothing really bad with my nose.
The things that makes you not able to leave when you want, is that they have your passport.
I come from a MMA background so i know a thing or two about broken noses.
On that day I left Koh Samui and got back to Koh Phangan.
Realised that my insurance ran out exact that day when i got back from the hospital!
When I got the papers via mail about the cost i got shocked!, but at the same time felt really really lucky!
Around 8000 dollars was the bill!!! For a broken nose!!
fortunately my insurance covered it.
That was the first time i realised how important it is to have it, it could have ruined the rest of my trip, and even ruined for me when i got home because of that bill !
I have been on a few hospital visits around South East Asia for various reasons, things that can happen to anyone that are out travelling!
It will save your life, it will go faster at the clinics or hospitals and it makes everything easier!
The price on a insurance is worth every single dollar or what ever currency you might use.
The one i find the best + have many different options of safety (Backpacker, adventurous etc) + you can get it when you are already out travelling (which is not common amongst many other insurance companies) .
Sometimes we forget to add on those extra months of travel insurance when we wanted to continue travel , and that can be very costly!
Their insurance is great and covers a lot, and with competitive prices!
